This book highlights various events where profound cruelty was committed against humanity as a result of racial prejudice.  Colonization, Slavery, Apartheid, Xenophobia, Honour Killings, and the fights for civil rights, to mention a few.

It was established that racism is an act that is learned, one that is greatly influenced by societal tolerance for prejudice, discrimination, and its beliefs. This underscores the UN's declaration of the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, adopted by the General Assembly on 20 November 1963.

However, there are other instances where despicable acts with no racial connotation were also committed against human beings. These include but are not limited to the caste system, gender based violence (GBV), child marriage, son preference, cultism and female genital mutilation.

All these put together constitute what is being referred to as a "stain on humanity".
